I'm shaving to support cancer research on the 27/03

I am shaving my hair for ACRF because I believe that a world without cancer is possible.

A few years ago one of my best mates dads was taken too early due to cancer. It hits hard seeing how quickly it affects the person with cancer and how difficult it is for the family around them both during and after.

The scary statistic is that '1 in 3 Australian men and 1 in 4 Australian women will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 75'. Which is quite a terrifying number.

- In 2014, cancer was the second most common cause of death in Australia and accounted for about three in 10 deaths

In the 1980s, the cancer survival rate was less than 50%. Today, almost 70% Australians will survive for at least five years after a cancer diagnosis and in some cancers the survival is as high as 90%

Cancer research has made a large difference thus far to help the lives of those affected by the horrible disease. We can help make that difference too.

I will be shaving my head on the 27th of March, so a month to go!

Please support where you can and help the Australian cancer research foundation outsmart cancer.

Thank you for your support.

My Updates

Phase 2 part 2 - Shaving all the hair off

Thank you to everyone who has supported the process (and to those who helped shave my head). None of this could have been done without everyone's amazing contibutions!
To respond to frequently asked questions of the day.
- It feels incredibly weird but great when the aircon is blowing straight on my head!
- The hair is growing back incredibly quickly, already feeling prickles.
- I keep touching my head expecting hair and not finding it
- Looking in a mirror is far more shocking as I keep forgetting I have no hair.

Phase 2 - Shaving hair with a mohawk

So the first part of the shave was my friends shaving and shaping the hair into a mohawk! Definitely a different look

The total raised is $1,333 which has far exceeded my initial goal of $300 (which was quickly upped to $500 the same night).
The money raised will go towards three projects the ACRF is currently doing:
1) Further exploration into immunotherapy clinical responses
2) Precision medicines (targeted radiometals) that can potentially kill the cancer cells while causing less damage to healthy tissues in patients
3) Studies into radiation therapy to trigger anti-cancer immune defences

Phase 1 - Dye hair different colour

4 more days until all the hair is all shaved off!
A huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far, I really appreciate all your support to the Cancer Research Foundation.
