Julie-Ann Slee

I'm fundraising for someone close to me who is fighting breast cancer and also all the brave people out there trying to kick cancer's butt.

I am shaving my hair for ACRF because I believe that a world without cancer is possible.

ACRF invests in the brightest minds and boldest ideas in cancer research.

Help me to be bold too and donate today to Outsmart Cancer.

Thank you for your support.

Countdown to the Chop

Hair - we all have it.  Everybody has had a love/hate relationship with it at some point in our lives - me especially.

I grew up hating the fact I had curly locks, despite the fact hairdressers and even complete strangers would often comment how beautiful my luscious curls were.  My inner thoughts would shout "If only you had this hair that needs to be tamed like a wild animal on a daily basis, you would think differently".

I would always bring the hairdresser in pictures of the perfect hairdo, only to be told "You can't do that because you have curly hair". We all seem to apportion a big part of our personality to our hair and how having the right cut or colour makes us feel as a person.  It has taken me many decades to be at peace with my hair and how it has a mind of it's own.

So what is the next logical step??  Shave it off!

The 'Big C' is bigger than the perfect hair cut, or an amazing colour.  For so many people that choice gets taken away from them by this horrible disease. I now have quite a few friends and people close to me who have been impacted by Cancer in the last few years, so it just felt like the right time to do something about it.

Thank you to everyone who has donated to this wonderful cause so far.  Your support means the world to me and it is hugely appreciated.

The countdown is on - only 34 more sleeps until the big shave on the  28th March.

Thank you to my Sponsors
